Armenia: Mount Ararat

Mount Ararat (the biblical resting place of Noah’s Ark) is a combination of two peaks – Great Ararat at an elevation of 5,137 m (16,854 ft) and Little Ararat at an elevation of 3,896 m (12,782 ft). The mountain is national symbol and pride of Armenia and is featured on the country’s national anthem despite the fact that geographically the mountain system is located in Turkey, just 30km outside the border. On a clear day, Ararat can be seen for miles set against the foreground of the endless wineries on the Armenian territory.
