Belgium: Bruges

Bruges is one of the gems of Europe with its historic city center bling filled to the rim with incredible Gothic architecture. Brugge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was one of the first medieval town to be recognized. Similar to Amsterdam, Bruges is often referred to as the Venice of the North. The central Markt square is fantastic with rows of medieval buildings on one side and a looming cathedral on the other. You can roam the city streets and canals for hours if not days, plus all the Belgian chocolates acting like magnets in the candy store windows.
