Bhutan: Hiking up to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery

And the creme-de-la-creme of the Bhutan’s attractions – the mysterious cliff-hugging Tiger’s Nest (aka Taktsang Palphug) monastery. It’s a full day trek – the monastery sits on a vertical wall over 300m (almost 1000 ft) above the valley below, at the elevation of 3120 m (10240 ft). It’s a steep steep climb up, and the path actually goes up before descending down before going up again. In the way, you path through a pine forest with rare colorful birds, moss hanging from the trees, and beautiful alpine wildflowers blooming.
