Brazil: São Paulo – Avenida Paulista

Avenida Paulista is (arguably) the heart and soul of São Paulo. Similar to the Fifth Avenue in NYC, it’s packed with skyscrapers with fashionable shops, museums, and many of the biggest banks in Brazil. Just about 2km long, it’s lined up with glass towers of all architectural shapes and sizes. It’s also the highest point in São Paulo and has several TV antennas on top of the skyscrapers. The most famous museum in the city – São Paulo Museum of Art – is also here, housed in a futuristic black-red building. On Sundays, the traffic is blocked and people flood the avenue in droves to jog, exercise, dance, drink, and all of the above.
