Burkina Faso: Around Ouagadougou

Ouagadougu or Ouaga for short is the capital of Burkina Faso with nearly 2 million people living here. As far as attractions go – there aren’t many. Sand covered streets are packed with motorbikes and bicycles to a much higher degree then other west African cities and rush hour here is an insanity of no rules. There are at least 3 large mosques and and a new one – the Grand Mosque – is under construction. Several churches dot the landscape as well. A lake in the middle of the city is where everybody grows their crops. And of course, vast amounts of trash and plastique lie everywhere since the dry and hot climate allows for zero decomposition and goats don’t eat plastic.
