Canada/Nunavut: Hiking the Tundra

It takes a couple of warm spring days and the snow melts on tops of sandy eskers allowing for some hiking. As you climb the ridges, a panorama of still frozen lakes and snow covered trees opens up in all directions. On some of the ridges, there are tons of lingonberry (a northern sister of cranberry), which after having been frozen all winter tastes insanely juicy and sweet. Needless to say, I was on all fours collecting them and then stuffing myself to the max.
