Chile: Torres del Paine NP – Rio Ascencio Valley

Rio Ascencio Valley is the easternmost valley of the “W” in the Torres del Paine National Park. This is also the valley that has the spectacular view of the Torres (towers) themselves. Most of the hike leads through a verdant forested valley with great panoramic views until you get to the Base Las Torres turnoff – from here is a steep scramble to the viewpoint of the magnificent Torres. The Torres del Paine are the distinctive three spiky granite peaks that look like no other mountains on earth.
