Colombia: Bogota – Museo Botero

Fernando Botero is perhaps the most world-renown Colombian (or maybe on par with Pablo Escobar) for his art and style known as Boterismo, depicting people in large, fat, oversized proportions and often naked. His statues grace many cities around the world including New York, Paris, London and so on. Bogota houses Museo Botero which has over 150 Botero works – painting and sculptures – as well as other modern art masterpieces. There are a lot of naked women here whose butts often don’t fit into the canvass (supposedly Botero liked to paint his own wife on many of them). Many paintings and sculptures are satirical and you can’t help but smile walking through the museum halls.
