Cuba: Topes de Collantes National Park

Cuba is not just Havana, colonial cities, forts, and old cars – the country has some very spectacular nature. Topes de Collantes National Park preserves the mountain rainforest of the Escumbray Range in the southern Cuba, with several peaks rising to over 3K feet. Hiking here takes you to incredible tropical waterfalls, sprigs, crystal clear swimming pools, and abundant tropical vegetation covering the steep hills and mountain sides. Coffee plantations are found on lower slopes. Specially equipped 6-wheel drive Russian ZIL vehicles take you up the steep mountain roads. Wildlife is abundant as well, especially the birds (next post).
