Egypt: Kom Ombo Temple (Temple of Sobek)

Further south along the Nile lies the Temple of Kom Ombo aka Temple of Sobek, dedicated to the god Sobek (the one with a crocodile face for the head. Similarly to the Horus Temple (see post 76), this one has crocodile pics and relief everywhere and also corresponds to the later Ptolemaic period of the Egyptian history. What’s even more interesting, this temple has a small museum chockfull of crocodile mummies – some bare, some wrapped in elaborate materials.
