Egypt: Cairo Tower (Borg Al-Qahira)
Cairo Tower is the tallest building in Cairo and second tallest in Africa. Some think it’s as much a symbol of Egypt as the pyramids (I would challenge that). Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful slender building made to resemble a lotus flower, the symbol of Egypt. It’s located on an island in the middle of the Nile – an elite place for super rich with polo clubs and tennis courts. Incredible night cityscape views are afforded 360 degrees from the top of the tower, which is actually rotating. A side product of getting to the tower is a feluca boat ride across the Nile which is awesome at night in itself.
