Ethiopia: Bale Mountains NP – Sanetti Plateau

Sanetti Plateau is the central feature of the Bale Mountains National Park. An almost flat plateau at an elevation of over 13,000ft/4000m. It’s desolate, treeless, and cold. And absolutely starkly beautiful! Ethiopia’s second highest point (and among top 10 in the entire Africa) is located here at 4,377m. Otherworldly senecio trees grown here as well (although it as prolific as in the Simien Mountains or Mount Kenya or Kilimanjaro – I am clearly travel-jaded). The plateau is home to the super rare and endangered endemic Ethiopian Wolf (next post).
