Faroe Islands: Faroese Churches

There are many churches on the Faroe Islands. The oldest ones are from the early 1800s, small, painted black with white top, and turf-roofs. One church was octagonal. A new massive church in Kalksvik was modern construction. All churches are wooden with a boat hanging from the ceiling inside. All churches belong to the Faroese Evangelical Lutheran Church. Some churches are set in improbable clifftop locations.
