France: Exploring Haute Provence

You can spend days exploring the landscapes and towns of Haire Provence (High Provence) in the Provence Alps. There are dozens of small historic towns in villages, almost all in hilltops, nearly manicured vines, wheat fields, and of course the lavender. In the beginning you stop by every lavender patch or field, and they just keep on popping again and again. We twisted and turned on our route though Gordes, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Murs, Rossillon, Saignon, and so on. Some places are overrun with tourists, especially the famous Senanque Abbey, which is under restoration anyway.
