Georgia: Mtskheta

Mtskheta (good luck pronouncing this) is one of the oldest cities in Georgia, founded in the 5th century AD. It was one of the earliest sites of Christianity in the Caucasus. The two most significant cathedrals here (both i the UNESCO World Heritage list) are the grand 11th century Svetotskhoveli Cathedral located in the heart of the town and the 6th century Jvari Monastery on the hilltop above town.
