Germany: Nordlingen

Well, turns out there are not two but three beautiful fairytale German medieval walled towns together on what’s called the Romantic Road – Rothenburg, Dinkelsbuhl (see previous two posts) and Nordlingen. Nordlingen dates back to 888 and was actually built entirely inside a meteor impact crater. A lot of old houses here as well and a very pretty townhall. But it’s the St Georg Cathedral that steals the show – it’s 90m high and climbing it is similar to serious mountaineering in effort – but well worth it for the views from the high top.
