Ghana: Ghana Food Recap

Food in Ghana differs somewhat between the coast and the arid north, but there are similarities. Joloff rice (red rice) is perhaps the number one dish. Chicken red red or simply grilled or smothered in shito sauce. Fish is more often freshwater then ocean – tilapia is omnipresent. Goat – grilled or in a soup is also delicious. In the north, the delicacy is guinea fowl (a chicken-like colorful bird that is wild in other parts of Africa but here grown for consumption), and it is simply fantastic – lean and gamy – grilled or in a super spicy red chili soup. Usually, everything is eaten with your hands. Ghanian beers are Club and Star and sometimes Guilder.
