Greece: Athens – Changing of the Guards Ceremony

An elaborate changing of the guards ceremony takes place next to the monument of the unknown soldier in front of the presidential palace and behind the Syntagma square right in the heart of Athens. Units of the presidential guard wear highly ceremonial and unique uniform, complete with a pleated skirt, stockings, garter belt, and really funny and loud clog shoes. The whole procession somehow reminded of the bridal dance of the cranes in Japan.
