Greece: Santorini – Pyrgos & Mt Profitu Ilia

Pyrgos is a town located in the middle of the island of Santorini near its highest point. A hill location called for insane vertical architecture of twisting staircases and steps, all whitewashed and a total maze, leading to several spectacular hilltop churches. The actual island’s highest point is a few km away on top of Mt Profitu Ilia, from where you can see the entire giant volcanic caldera that is Santorini archipelago and further islands beyond. A monastery is located here as well.
