Greece: Ancient Corinth

Corinth was a major ancient city-state, and rivaled in power and size Athens and Sparta. All three fought the Persian invasion. When the Persian threat subsided, Corinth fell in importance behind Athens, but then years later was rebuilt into a grander glory by the Romans. The archaeological site includes many columns and ruins as well as a museum filled with sculptures, one of the best collections in the world.
