Greenland: Segelsalskapet – Colorful Rock Formations

The USA has its spectacular sandstone Wave formation on the border of Utah and Arizona, that is one of the most stunning landscape on earth. Who could have expected that Greenland would boast an equally surreal and perhaps even more dramatic rock formation at Segelsalskapet. Here, right at the beach, layers of sandstone and limestone folded in colorful lines of metamorphic rock – red, yellow, orange, brown. It is absolutely amazing! The rocks here are roughly 600-900 mln years old, with the metamorphosis blending them into these peculiar formation about 400 mln years ago. This is the Greenlandic Wave!
