Hawaii: Big Island – Climbing Mauna Loa

Mauna Loa rises to 13,677 feet (4,169 m) and is an active volcano with a massive crater at the top. Climbing Mauna Loa is a very strenuous fit since you are literally going in one day from the sea level to the 13+ thousand feet, but the view at the top is well worth it – you are well above the clouds and there are likely to be zero other people on top besides you.
