Hungary: Szeged – Votive Church

Votive Church aka Cathedral of Our Lady of Hungary is an unmistakable centerpoint of Szeged. Its twin towers rise 95 meters above the Dom Square and you can climb one of the towers (no elevator) to the top for some incredible views of the city. The cathedral was built between 1913 and 1930, it is the fourth biggest church in Hungary (obsessed with massive churches to begin with). Stylistically, the church is a hodgepodge of Roman, gothic and Byzantine architecture. Its interior features an organ with 9040 pipes and an image of Madonna dressed in Hungarian national clothes
