India: Boat Cruising the Sundarbans

Sundarbans is the world’s largest mangrove swamp at confluence of four massive rivers into the Bay of Bengal. It covers 10k square kilometers (60/40 split between Bangkadesh and India). It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protecting the refuge of Bengal tiger. The only activity here is to get on a boat and cruise the myriads of natural channels – the scenery doesn’t change much: it’s mangroves (seven species grow here), black vicious mud. Wildlife watching is scarce (next post), and it’s more of a landscape enjoyment then the nature exploration.
