Israel: Golan Heights

Golan Heights is a mountainous plateau that rises sharply to the east and north of the Sea of Galilee. The area was captures by Israel in the 1967 war and then effectively annexed in 1981. It’s a beautiful landscape of endless planes and many orchards and vineyards (apples from here are world famous). Here and there you can encounter old Syrian tank rusting or minefields still remaining. Also there are a lot of Israeli military museums with heavy weaponry on display.
