Italy: Milan – Milan Cathedral (Duomo)

Milan’s Cathedral or Duomo is the largest church in Italy and the fifth largest in the world. The construction started in mid 14th century and was only completed by Napoleon Bonaparte who was crowned the king of Italy here (he also promised France would pay for construction but it never did). The building is magnificent in its neo-gothic style; and this time I managed to get to the rooftop for a close up view of all the gargoyles, dozens of statues and spires, the gilded Madonna on top, and intricately carved walls and stairs and pretty much everything else. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
