Japan: Snow Monkeys of Jigokudani Hotsprings

Japanese snow monkeys – you’ve probably heard of them or seen them on National Georgraphic shows. These monkeys (Japanase Macaques) are the most northern-living primates in the world and survive in the snow-covered Shiga Kogen mountains by basically spending most of the time lounging around hotsprings. The steamy water and their furry coats keep them from freezing in temperatures that often drop below -15C in winter.
