Jeju Island: Jeju Stone Park & Museum

As if Love Land wasn’t enough kitsch, Jeju also boasts the Stone Park with a massive Stone Museum that displays…. well….. stones! The volcanic island has loads and loads of peculiar volcanic lava stones so I guess it just seemed natural to display the best of them. The museum has actually quite interesting displays on vulcanology and lava types and flow mechanics. And then there is a huge suiseki hall (suiseki is the art of stone sculptures, where stones look like some kind of artistic expressions yet are completely natural) – and this is where is got too abstract for me. Outside the museum, there are tons and tons (literally – tons!) of huge rocks piled up almost sky high, rock-carved heads and torsos, and other rock and stone insanity galore.
