Kurils: Kuril Islands Food Recap

The restaurants (fancy or any other) basically don’t exist on Kuril Islands. And while fish is abundant and plentiful, it’s not that easy for a tourist to have. On Kunashir, most of the meals were during hikes – simply eating smoked salmon, or scallops or shrimp out of a plastic box. On Iturup, the hotel restaurant was awesome and I got to try a local specialty – a whole halibut head broiled (cheeks and eyes as super delicacy). But basically the entire Kuril cuisine can be 90% destined as salmon caviar, salmon, and vodka.
