Lord Howe Island: Valley of Shadows

Large portions of the Howe Island is pristine tropical wilderness of exotic vegetation, with a lot of endemic. A large swath of coastal forest near the middle of the island is called the Valley of Shadows – with high concentration of massive banyan trees (the tree that inspired the huge tree of life in Avatar). The trees’ branches drop down to the ground and grow themselves, creating the illusion the trees are walking. And just a short 30 min hike takes you this totally otherworldly location.
