Malta: Mellieha

Mellieha lies in the west of the island of Malta, surrounded by good beaches and en route to the ferry to Gozo. Mellieha dates to Neolithic times and thrived under the Knights. Mellieha Beach has the largest stretch of white sandy shore on the Malta at 1.5km length. The town itself stands on a hilltop above the surrounding countryside, and the highest point in town belongs to the 19th century baroque Our Lady of Victory Church.
