Malta: Zebbug

Another non-tourist Maltese town in the middle of the island (it’s so hot in here), Zebbug is also known as Citta Rohan. It is one of the oldest towns in Malta and its name roughly means “olives” for the olive groves nearby. Zebbug was the third most important city in Malta in medieval times under the Knights of St John after Mdina and Valletta. The main square features the impressive Church of St Phillip, super ornate and colorful, with a lot of sculptures and carving, dating back to the early 18th century. Yellow stone and more of it everywhere in Malta!
