Mexico/Chihuahua: Copper Canyon – Tres Canones & Piedra Volada

Two most spectacular viewpoints of the Copper Canyon are Piedra Volada and Tres Canones. At Piedra Volada, an isolated rock tower sticks out into the abyss, they used to allow people to walk on top but many slipped down and died. At Tres Canones, you get to see a panoramic view of three different canyons in a single view – the Copper Canyon (5770 ft deep) meets the Urique Canyon (6136 ft deep) and a smaller Tatarequa Canyon branches out. The canyonland view run as far as the eyes can see. The land is populated by Taragumara Indians who have lived here for centuries.
