Morocco: Marrakesh – Medina & Souqs

Marrakesh is the most tourist-heavy city in Morocco and its medina is literally swarmed with hordes of tourists from all over the world and the corresponding number of souvenirs and craft sellers. Marrakesh souqs are world famous. It’s definitely a less authentic experience then Fes, but the selection and variety is much larger. From clay pots to leather goods to meat to fruits and vegetable – it’s all here. Throw in a half dozen mosques with worshippers and another half dozen museums and medressas – and you can easily spend many hours if not days exploring this labyrinth. And yes – you will get lost. Naturally, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
