Nepal: Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur is the third and last imperial town in Nepal (the other two are Kathmandu and Patan), and as such it has its own royal Palace and Durbar Square. The Palace of 55 Windows and most of the temples were built in the mid of the 15th century during the rule of the Malla dynasty. The 2015 earthquake inflicted sizable damage here as well and many temples lay in ruins as the stone elephants and lions at their foundations stand lonely. Bhaktapur’s Durbar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
