Nepal: Sunrise at Sarangkot

This is supposedly the number one thing to do in Pokhara in Nepal (assuming the weather cooperates). You wake up 4am and drive for 1/2 hour to the outskirts of Pokhara and then up an improbably steep road. When the road is no longer drivable, you get out and hike up for another 45min-1hour. Up and up and up, along the mountain ridge, eventually getting to the top for a sunrise observation point. From here – on a clear day – you get a surreal snow-clad mountain panorama. When I got here – it was all cloud covered. But as the sun rose, the mountain peak peaked out through the holes in the clouds – almost suspended in midair as if taken from Avatar!
