Outer Hebrides: Isle of Harris Distillery

The most famous distillate of the Outer Hebrides is actually not whiskey but rather gin. It is the oldest distillery in the Outer Hebrides, and while it does produce some whiskey, it’s the local gin that made it famous. The Isle of Harris Gin is produced using the local botanicals and infused with the sugar kelp seaweed from the harbor just in front of the facility itself. The gin is super smooth and aromatic, perhaps one of the best I’ve ever tried. The gin is produced in a custom blown glass bottle that can be later used as a lantern (the hook is embedded in the glass).
