Palestine: Jericho – Oldest city on Earth

Jericho is the oldest inhabited city on Earth. 23 successive settlements were uncovered in Jericho at the central Jericho Tel Hill (all prehistoric, before Christ) dating back to 11,000 years ago. Jesus passed through Jericho dishing out free healing sessions, and then it was Romans, Islamic Caliphate, crusaders, Ottowan empire, Britain, Jordan, Israel, and now is administered independently as Palestine/West Bank (Yassir Arrafat smiles at you pretty much from every wall in the city). Jericho is an oasis located around many springs and date palm groves extend around the city. The mountain above the city is known as the Mount of Temptation and a Greek Orthodox monastery clings to its walls.
