Papua New Guinea: Ambua Lodge

Ambua Lodge is the premier (and pretty much the only) lodge in Southern Highlands – the range of accommodation in PNG is pretty much non-existent. But Ambua location is fantastic – in a mountain ridge, overlooking the Tari valley below, often above clouds. You stay in traditional round houses, every single one with stunning views. Ambua lodge is where David Attenborough filmed the Planet Earth section about the birds of paradise – it’s one of the best spots to have a chance to see them.
