Peru: Flying to Juliaca in Peruvian Antiplano

I didn’t manage to see the Rainbow Mountain while in Cusco – everything was planned, booked, and ready…. and then local farmers union announced a strike and roadblocked every road in and out of Cusco for 24 hours – the very 24 hours I wanted to go up the Rainbow Mountain. Oh well, so then I at least saw it from the air on the way to the Peruvian Antiplano in the south of the country. The landscape begins with sharp-peaked mountains and slowly changes into a green plateau around the Laka Titikaka, without any elevation drop – an endless terrain of high-altitude hills and flatlands surrounding the world’s highest navigable lake, my next destination.
