Peru: Mirador de los Andes

At the highest point of the road between Colca Canyon and Arequipa at 4910m/16109ft above sea level lies an overlook offering a panorama of five volcanoes, all above or just inside the 6000m mark. This viewpoint is the highest paved road in the South American continent. It’s frigid cold up here and your head is pounding from elevation, yet you can attempt walking around to explore the geology, and even flora and found at this elevation. Tiny mossy flowers are even blooming and o even found a lizard at this height which is truly insane for a cold-blooded reptile.
