Qatar: Doha – Historic Old Town & Corniche

Central Doha revolves around the historic Souq Waqif – a series of marketplaces for everything and anything. Restored traditional buildings are sprinkled with upscale restaurants and superchic boutique hotels. Several mosques are just outside the Souq, as are several fortress buildings. One can get lost here strolling around in the morning and dining and people watching in the evening. Everything shuts down from 12pm till 4pm as the heat takes toll on anything alive under the scorching sun. And there is soooooo much new construction going on and the World Cup is still 8 years away! An 8km long waterfront in Doha with a view of the financial center and futuristic buildings across the bay. The museum of Islamic Art is here as well. Tons of construction around so not easy to stroll plus the heat during the day is a killer. A lot of traditional boats “parked” a long the corniche embankment and one can take a mini cruise of the bay
