Reunion: Crater of Piton de la Fournaise

And the crater of the Piton de la Fournaise (peak of the furnace in French) was spectacular, grand, and massive! It’s brand new – the peak collapsed on itself in 2007 dropping down over 1000 feet and pushing lave in spectacular fountains. It has since regrown 200 feet back up during a 2010 eruption. Still remains one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
