Russia: Saint Petersburg – St Isaac’s Cathedral

Saint Isaac’s Cathedral aka Isaakievskiy Sobor is the fourth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in St. Petersburg. It took forty years to built between 1818 and 1858, and it was dedicated to the patron saint of Peter the Great, Saint Isaac. Built in the Byzantine style, it has a large central dome with four minor domes. In some ways, it resembles the Capitol building in the USA. The cathedral’s dome is 102 m /333 ft high, covered with pure gold and having 12 angel statues. You can get to the roof for panoramic views of the city.
