Irkutsk Oblast: Irkutsk – 130 Kvartal (District
Kvartal 130 – which means “district” and no one knows why it’s “130” – is a small historic area of Irkutsk where old houses built back in the 17th century stood abandoned for many years but have been restored in the last couple years. The area is now the hippest part of the city with restaurants, museums, bars, and more restaurants lining the streets and facades of beautifully restored old wooded houses. This is where seemingly all of Irkutsk goes out as restaurants are fool, music pumping from the club doors, and everyone is dressed up.
