Slovakia: Bratislava Castle
Undoubtedly the main feature in Bratislava is the Bratislava Castle. A massive rectangular white building sits on top of a hill overlooking Danube river, Bratislava below and panoramic views into Austria and Hungary. The fortress is featured on the Slovak euro coins. It has a very long history dating back to the 9th century and having been the main castle of various kings and kingdoms – Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Austrian, German, Serb.
