Slovenia: Skofja Loka
Skofja Loca is one of the oldest towns in Slovenia dating back to 900s. By the Middle Ages, it became a fully walled fortified town with Loca Castle towering above the town. Ottoman attacked the town multiple times, peasant revolts wrecked it half a dozen times, an earthquakes leveled it twice, plaque nearly wiped its population out, and fires burned everything to the ground five times. Other then that, the town thrived, as the residents rebuilt it over and over again each time. Medieval architecture about in Scofja Loka with the castle on top and several churches in town.
