Spain/Andalusia: Almeria – Alcazaba of Almeria

Alcazaba (from Arabic al-Kasbah aka fortress) of Almeria is the largest fortification built by the Moors in 995 AD during the Caliphate of Córdoba. It has three levels of defensive walls and withstood three drives during the times of Recoquista by the Christian armies in the 15th century. It sure looks impressive, standing on high ground with massive square towers interconnected with thick walls. It tower above the port city below it and can be seen from far away.
