Spain/Cantabria: Santillana Del Mar

The town of Santillana Del Mar is an almost perfectly preserved medieval town in Cantabria and draws massive tourist crowds for its old buildings, palaces, and a 12th century Romanesque church. Everything is in immaculate condition and the town only has a couple streets to roam, but the traditional Cantabria Stone architecture and rough cobblestone streets will keep you exploring for hours. Artisan shops are everywhere and you can sample authentic Cantabria anchovies pretty much at the source. It’s a UNESCO site.
