Suriname: Brownsberg Nature Reserve

Brownsberg Reserve is a lush jungle surrounding a mountain and fronting a massive man-made lake Brokopondo (the dam was created to power the refinery nearby). Amazing hiking (albeit very hot, humid, and steep) to waterfalls and overlooks, under massive tropical jungle forest trees. The reserve accounts for over 1350 species of plants and 350 species of birds. Most animals are nocturnal, but I did manage to spot agoutis (look like lean pigs but actually relatives of rats).
